We have a deep-rooted passion for training bird dogs and helping owners develop strong, working relationships with their dogs. We both have decades of experience in upland hunting and bird dog training. It is our goal to continue our family’s legacy of sharing what bird dogs have taught us with bird dog owners and handlers.
Refined over generations, our Smith Method of Bird Dog Training — also referred to over time as the Delmar Smith Method, Silent Command System, or Huntsmith — is built on the belief that the mindset of every dog is critical in determining that dog’s success. We view our training as a developmental process which imprints dogs with all of the skills necessary to perform at their best. Our training format works with all pointing dogs, personal gun dogs or field trail competitors. Our training method focuses on developing confident, composed, and compliant bird dogs by working with their natural instincts.

TRAINING CLASSES FOR BIRD DOGS
Put our knowledge and experience to work for you by sending your pointing dog to us for training. We train two small classes a year at our facility in Oklahoma.
Our training classes will develop your dog’s steadiness on birds, instill handling cues, and general bird dog manners, which can be applied in every day life.
SEMINARS FOR BIRD DOG OWNERS
Attend a hands-on seminar to learn our step-by-step bird dog training method and gain valuable insight into your bird dog’s mindset, behavior, and learning style.
Our seminars are designed to help you better handle and train your own bird dog. Each weekend seminar covers a month’s worth of training topics.

We understand the love, pride, and dedication bird dog owners have for their dogs. Three generations of our family have been involved in breeding, raising, and developing our own pointers and Brittanys, as well as training dogs for people from across the country. Every bird dog we work with teaches us new things and after Ronnie’s 40 plus years training and Susanna’s 20 plus years training, we both still have a passion for studying and learning from bird dogs.
